Dating Conversation
When you are going on your first date with someone you should have an arsenal of conversations just in case you run into some of that dead silence that can make for a really awkward moment. Generally, it is a good idea to stay away from topics such as religion, politics and sex. Those are good topics for dates two and beyond.
Conversations
Some good topics to keep a conversation are those that anyone can have an opinion about, but that are light-hearted and fun. Mutual interests can be a fun conversation that both of you can get excited about. Consider a talk about favorite music, sports, and movies. Start with the favorites from the past and current favorites.
Vacation spots are also a great topic. Everyone likes to escape to a different place and most everyone really likes to talk about their past vacations and even the ones that they are dreaming about taking.
Everyone has a favorite television program, book, or website. It’s also a fun way to find a little bit about their tastes and to see if they click with yours.
Favorite hang outs are another good topic. People really like to let others know about the fun spots they have been to. It is another good way to get to know more about them from finding out the places that they frequent. Talking about places can lead to all kinds of different topics such as friends, drinking, favorite foods and social behaviors.
Above all, remember that it is equally important to be a good listener as it is to be a lively speaker. Make sure to give your date the opportunity to talk and offer to the conversation. Hogging the conversation can be poor form and you may make a bad first impression.
